For our brothers lost and those left behind in Charlston
    An Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  7. Darrell says:

    Charleston South Carolina Fire Department,

Allow us to lead this commiseration…

I have no ambition in the world but one… and that’s to be a fireman. The position may, on the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but those who know the work in which a fireman has to do, believe his is a noble calling.

Our proudest moment is to save lives. Even under the impulse of such thoughts, the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring…EVEN SUPREME SACRIFICE!

    Chief of Department
    FDNY

Our brethren in Charleston deserve such accolades amongst our profession. It’s within these words paraphrased above that such valor should never be forgotten! We, the brethren of Seminole County Fire Department and Vententersearch.com, lament the loss of your Charleston brothers.

We yearn for the angels of God to be with you, your families, and colleagues. May we leave you with this passage written by William Shakespeare – “From this day to the end of the world; we in it shall be remembered…we lucky few! We band of brothers”

  8. Rick says:

Those of us who go on to fight will never forget those who have lost the fight. Myself and my departments thoughts and prayers go out to the families left behind. “So that other may live……”

  9. AJ says:

I wrote this years ago and never shared it with anyone. When I saw the faces of the families on Friday I felt such pain such loss. I dedicate this to them.

    To the Nine.

I do not ask who calls me out or who bellows in time of need.
I do not ask who owns this house nor will this fire get me.

To hell and back I do my job I lay my water down heavy.
With axe and hose and long pike pole I fight the animal so bravely.

Many have died a fiery death
    Hundreds braver than me.

They walked the line and sometime died.
So another sunrise you may see.

    Rest in peace brothers

  12. JR says:

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and firefighters of the Charleston Fire Department. Even though our nine brothers have kept their appointment with Saint Peter at the Gates of Heaven, their memory will live on forever.

    Fallen
    Rest now my fallen brother
    Lay soft your suffering back
    Rest well and forever
    Your memory shall not lack
    Rest your tired hands
    Wipe clean your weary brow
    Rest with St. Florian
    Your spirit now endowed
    Rest here your breaking heart
We know you gave your all
Rest easy, you’ve done your part
    You’ve answered your last call
Rest knowing that in god we sought
Oh lord, watch over another who just fell
    Rest assured your troubled thought
As we ring the final bell.
