ill give you a 9.5 for creativity, but it seems like a little to much work. ill stick with the wedge in helmet.

  2. Andrew says:

much less work then in the helmet. all u do is pull down. dont worry about pulling on the wedge from your helmet and two pop out. good idea. ill give it a try.

Easy fellas, I am in no way was saying that Truck Companies should run medical calls. I’m not trying to start World War III here. Most trucks are in houses with Engines, Ambulances or some other units that may be tasked with Medical Calls. So go steal the tags from them. If your department doesn’t have to run EMS then I’ll steal a great quote from Napoleon Dynamite… “LUCKY!” Don’t forget, those tags are used for fire extinguishers too. I’m not even touching that whole Pump & Tank thing either… 🙂

People who don’t adapt won’t survive. EMS incidents are part of the job now, learn to accpet it or go cut grass for a career.
    Be careful.

  5. mike says:

I have tried it before and it didn’t melt. All the tag did was curl up….it seemed to work

Definately a different idea, but I don’t feel it would be practicle for me. I’ll continue to store my wedges in the right-hand pants pocket, along with two DC style door wedges on my helmet.

  7. albino says:

What are the DC style wedges you speak of?

  8. dj stone says:

Man shall not live on wedges alone…stick a bent nail or hook on the end & now you have a more versital tool(hang it from a hinge), so you can block the door on your next med run…

  9. Eric says:

great idea but even when u dont want it to come off it will cause those tags are delicate and even the smallest tug will even cuse u to lose your wedge even though you can make them yourself…good luck with that though

  10. mike says:

Better to come off easily than to not come off at all……………..this reduces the chances of anything becoming entangled. This is the reasoning behind the tag.

Those little extinguisher seals are tougher than you think. The one in the pic is rated at to take 15 lbs of pressure to break. I think it’s a very creative idea. Play safe!!

Its a great idea. only problem i can really see with it is if you dont have any hooks on the front of your coat. I only have 1 that is a gear saver that i have my flashlight on, but it gets kind of bulky with too much stuff on it. I keep 1 wooden piece-o-crap chock in the band on my hemmet, and 1 nicer one in my coat pocket.

  13. E2Capt says:

Who carries door chocks? Isn’t that what probies are for?

  14. WFD-426 says:

    Let’s use our resources wisely.

    Probies pull ceiling.

LEO (aka the blue canaries) can chock the doors.

  15. RFDCAPT says:

@E@Capt… You must have forgotten that at one point in time, You were a probie. Let’s not forget that we all wore black helmets. And, if your not packing some chocks with you, your doing yourself and your crew a disservice.

  16. E2Capt says:

@RFDCAPT – Uh yeah that was a joke. I carry no less than 6, 3 of which hang on the front of my coat with a small carabiner and short loops of prussik cord (door chocks – not probies)

Thanks for chastising me though. Haven’t talked to my mom in quite some time… 😉
