Where have all the jalousie’s gone? We found them, they are all right here. This particular setup could create some interesting situations of the fireground. Undoubtedly, if some (or all) of them are open in the fire room, it could create some interesting fire behavior due to the pre-existing horizontal vent. Scanning this room with a TIC would sure look interesting, due to the reflection of a partially open and partially closed set-up. Also, the texture of this “wall†could feel confusing during a traditional search. None of this is a big deal as long is it’s kept in the back of your mind while working in this structure.
Is this a commercial building or is it apartments? I don’t see this in my neck of the woods so I am curious?

Guessing by the lack of signage and the mailbox there, I’d guess this is apartments. I’d hate to pay the heating/AC bill there! The biggest issue I would see is the potential rapid fire spread due to ventilation if they were all left open like that.
This could create a serious fall hazard as well from the looks. It only takes one over zealous truck guy to smash all that out !

Looks like they may be a porch type room, but without walking up and getting a in person look that could be wrong.
Curious, is that a parepet wall or what is that in picture 1… are these add ons to an older building or is that something else all together?
